About StepMeal
Our goal: help you start a meal plan that fits your life — without having to study nutrition first.
What the name means
StepMeal combines “step” and “meal”. Instead of changing everything at once and quitting in two weeks, change one step at a time and keep going.
The most common reason diets fail is trying to change too much at once. Eating breakfast, cutting back on rice, prepping snacks ahead — start them all together and most people don’t make it past two weeks. Making one thing a habit before moving to the next ends up being faster.
Why we built it
Most meal plans online assume you can cook and have time. Grilling chicken breast in the morning and packing a lunch box is a great plan — but if you leave for work at 7 and get home at 9, you can’t even start it.
Diets usually fail not because of weak willpower, but because people follow a plan that doesn’t fit their life. That’s why we ask how much you cook, where you eat lunch, how often you eat out or order in, and your budget.
StepMeal started in Korea, so prices are in Korean won and foods are what you can buy in Korea. The English version adds Western-style meals for people who live here.

Nutrition guides
From calories and macronutrients to convenience stores, eating out and work dinners — 18 guides with sources you can check.
How we calculate
We estimate your basal metabolic rate with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and multiply it by your activity level to get daily energy use. Then we adjust for your goal and check the result against our safety limits.
Our nutrition standards follow the 2025 Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (Ministry of Health and Welfare / Korean Nutrition Society) and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s food composition database.
What we stand by
- Whatever goal you enter, we never plan below the safe minimum
- Numbers always come with a source
- No exaggerated claims like “lose 5 kg in a week”
- We don’t replace medical care, and we point you to a professional when needed
Trying it is quicker than reading about it.
