Editorial standards

There’s no shortage of diet information online. The problem is that much of it contradicts itself, and the evidence is hard to check. Here’s how the guides on this service are made.

How a guide is written

  1. Choosing a topic — we start from questions people actually search for
  2. Research — we check authoritative sources first
  3. First draft — conclusion first, evidence after
  4. Checking numbers — we confirm every number in the text has a source
  5. Checking wording — we make sure there’s no exaggeration or overstatement
  6. Publishing and review — we re-check at least every 6 months

How we handle numbers

Every calorie count, nutrient amount and recommended intake in our guides has a source. Our order of priority is:

PrioritySourceUsed for
1Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (Ministry of Health and Welfare · The Korean Nutrition Society)Recommended intake standards
2Food Nutrient Database (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Korea)Nutrients in individual foods
3Official position statements from professional societies (ISSN, American Heart Association, etc.)Advice on exercise and medical conditions
4Peer-reviewed papersEvidence on individual topics

Wording standards

We don’t writeWe write instead
“Doing X makes you lose weight”“X can help with weight loss”
“You must do X”“We recommend X” / “X is common”
“Research shows” (with no source)The specific source and publishing organization
“The best”, “perfect”We don’t use these words

And on topics where the evidence is divided, we don’t present just one side — we also say what isn’t settled yet.

What every guide includes

  • A 3-line summary — so you can leave with just the conclusion
  • Sources — with links to the originals so you can check
  • Publication date and last review date
  • A note that results vary from person to person
  • Advice to see a professional where relevant

Review cycle

Every guide is re-checked at least every 6 months. If standards change or new evidence appears, we update the text and the review date. You can see the last updated date at the top of each guide.
